Good morning. Good morning. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. How are you?
0:37
Where am I? I'm in our living room. Oh okay. I was usually
0:44
here, so I'm usually in the sex room. But today Kaya is running an errand, so I thought
0:51
let's be out here and sprawl. And give David a new view. Yes. So our, it's my little pianist
0:59
station. There's that cool chair back there. It's actually really quite huge. Oh that is.
1:10
And then this thing that I'm on is like these two couch sort of beds that have these really heavy
1:23
pillow armrests. It's really sweet. So like we just plumped down here in the TV's
1:31
middle of the room for somebody else. Did that piano come with it? No, I brought that.
1:48
I can't wait for our apartment because it has a bathtub, but it's going to be hard to
1:55
take a bite to this big open common space. Is it pretty soon? I think October, maybe November,
2:07
but yeah. Okay. It's sooner than it's ever been. Another day closer. Yeah. And it's exciting.
2:22
It's exciting stuff one on that. I can't remember if I told you about my friend Dorian,
2:28
our friend Dorian who's coming from Croatia. Somebody we met in Europe and spent some time
2:39
with in Zurich when we were on our summer tour in 23. And he and I kept in touch and I always said
2:50
when we should come to Rio someday and we thought it would be cool. And then he got
2:56
10 days off from his dancing troupe and it's like I can come. And so I got him a ticket and
3:05
in May and so he arrived tomorrow. It's staying for eight days and he's mostly like 80% in my visitor
3:17
and yeah 20% kindness. So it's going to be fun. I'm a little nervous but I've never hosted anybody
3:33
anywhere. Like even in Atlanta, Kyle was always the one that would go to Coca-Cola and see him
3:40
and do all that stuff. And I was always like, no, please don't make me do the aquarium again.
3:52
Craya makes sure it was pretty cool. I'm not like this, but Coca-Cola or seen it and
3:58
yeah, they were both pretty boring. Yeah. This is a good time for you to be a tourist in Rio.
4:06
It's going to force me to do some of the tourist things we've already kind of been planning.
4:18
Some of it like that hike that we did was partially in preparation.
4:25
Because it's this first time leaving Europe and I want it to be, I mean, it's quite a great place
4:32
to come for your first big trip and I want to make it. Yeah. So this is your first time actually being
4:45
a host ever for this? Yeah, I mean my parents, I've been like host for them in Atlanta before
4:53
and that, but that's a different thing because it was like being my mom's host means you have
5:00
to go to a lawns and you have to like, it's very easy. She pays for everything. You just have to
5:08
pick the nice place. But yeah, it's going to be doubly interesting because he speaks absolutely no
5:26
English. He's Croatian. And yeah, there's a lot of people that speak English here,
5:35
I think. I just don't know because I don't do it, but it'll be really interesting.
5:43
We had we hired a man from Croatia to install our new floors and he had a dwarf Mexican
5:56
and the languages were similar enough that they were communicate pretty well which was totally
6:04
surprising to me. Yeah. That could be a pleasant surprise. Absolutely watching a dwarf
6:14
install flooring is amazing. They don't have to spot they just get the little thing in the
6:21
boards and plates. But in other news, it's been a wonderful week. I just found a pile of bananas
6:39
that I slipped on in Santa Rosa. So we went to Santa Rosa last Thursday. No Friday night.
6:58
And the plan was to be there for about five days and then I was going to come back because of
7:06
Dorian's arrival. And Kyle was going to stay a few more days and then maybe go to Saupalo and try
7:14
to have some, have one of his boys come visit him or something to give me time with Dorian.
7:22
And which was very disruptive to me. Him changing his mind about what he's going to be doing.
7:33
Because it's changed from he was going to go to Colombia and then he was going to go to Dominican
7:38
Republic. And then he wasn't going anywhere. And so it kept swinging between Dorian's 100%
7:46
and 9% and I'll have 100% access. Like yeah, we'll have to worry about sharing him to, okay,
7:51
we're both hosting. Okay. I'm hosting again. And the challenge through that was to not make Kyle
8:02
feel like he's not welcome. But also to be able to be honest and say I was kind of excited about
8:08
me having a boy for once. Like he's going to hear tomorrow too. So I'll have to say I was a little
8:22
anxious on the trip to San Rosa because I wanted him to enjoy himself and stay. But what happened
8:32
that he didn't? Well, that's the next part of the story is mom is in a rare form.
8:42
She's had probably stopped taking care of the presents. Like last December, she was in this exact
8:49
same state where you can't stay and be around her because she's constantly picking a fight with
8:55
you or someone. And no, that's not what happened. No, not her sister. You know her sister.
9:04
Like just everything and Kyle was why I can't, I can't be around her. And I was like, I can't either.
9:15
So our trip really became abbreviated in mostly about seeing Kyle's grandparent.
9:23
And me playing piano and playing some tennis with his sister. But it was it was not, it was not
9:37
at all what Kyle wanted or expected. And it was kind of disruptive for both of us to see his mom
9:44
in the state. Not just rough, but sad. But so we split driving on the way. I drove the first four
10:03
hours, we drove the second. And on the second four hours that I was driving up.
